Uganda has the widest variety of primates anywhere in Africa; including chimpanzees and the endangered mountain gorilla. These primates have their own natural habitat in the tropical rain forests of Bwindi and Mgahinga National Parks. From the latest census, over 360 gorillas are living in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where six families have already been habituated for the tourists interested in tracking the gentle giants. Gorilla tracking is the most sought after tourist activity in Uganda yet trekking through the tropical rainforests in search for the gentle giants is an unforgettable and unique experience.
